Crosby Wastewater Plant Shut Down
After Releasing Dangerous Contaminants
Harris County has filed a lawsuit against a wastewater treatment facility in Crosby after discovering serious water contamination that could harm public health. Officials say Roving Meadows Utilities Inc., located on FM 1942, has been releasing untreated sewage and extremely high levels of bacteria into local waterways, despite repeated warnings.
Major Violations Discovered
Between March 2021 and January 2025, Harris County’s Pollution Control Services inspected the facility seven times and found dangerous conditions, including raw sewage leaking onto the ground and E. coli bacteria levels more than 1,000 times the legal limit. The wastewater from this facility flows into ditches that connect to the Trinity-San Jacinto Coastal Basin, which could spread contamination to other areas.
Legal Action Taken
After multiple warnings went ignored, Harris County Attorney Christian Menefee took legal action to stop the pollution. A court order has been secured to temporarily shut down the facility until the company makes necessary fixes. The lawsuit demands that Roving Meadows improve its treatment process, monitor its wastewater properly, and report any future violations.
Protecting Public Health
Menefee emphasized that clean water is a basic necessity and that families should never have to worry about bacteria or sewage in their water supply. He warned that when companies fail to follow environmental laws and put people at risk, the county will hold them accountable.
For now, the legal battle continues, but officials hope the lawsuit will lead to safer water for Crosby residents and stronger protections against future violations.

Answer: D) Their syrinx (voice box) is so flexible it can imitate chainsaws, camera shutters, and human speech.
Lyrebirds, native to Australia, are among the world's most skilled mimics. Their syrinx, or voice box, is highly developed, allowing them to perfectly imitate natural and artificial sounds—including chainsaws, car alarms, and even construction noises. This talent helps them attract mates and adapt to their surroundings!
