Tabbs Bay Disc Golf Course - Coming Soon
An elevated golf experience is coming to Baytown with the introduction of a new Tabbs Bay Disc Golf course, set along the outer perimeter of Tabbs Bay Ball Golf Course (formerly T36).
This free-to-play disc course will be open to the public, offering a fun and accessible recreational and competitive option for all. While it remains a separate amenity provided by Parks and Recreation, the course is a collaborative effort with Tabbs Bay to enhance the range of public offerings.
Course designers Chris Vandagriff and Scotty Linthicum finalized and set tee box and basket positions on the course this week, as the concrete work is slated to begin as soon as next week.
The Tabbs Bay (Red) Course is designed with a recreational and intermediate skill set in mind. However, the course will also appeal to and challenge upper levels of play, as it includes creative and unique features and amenities that have been integrated into the design. In addition to the 18 hole "RED" course, the designers have created and implemented 2 additional 9 hole courses within the same footprint. "BLUE" (Advanced) and "GOLD" PRO level 9 hole tracks share baskets with the RED course to add several longer Par 3's and Par 4's. It was important to the designers and to the integrity of the course that this was considered from inception.
The disc golf course will have shared use of some of the ball golf amenities such as golf cart rentals, restaurant and bar service, as well as a clubhouse with restroom facilities. Additionally, a fully lit parking lot with ample parking will ensure convenience for daily visitors as well as event crowds.
The course will officially open in April 2025, following a March soft opening. Soft opening completion date is March 1 to allow players time to practice for the upcoming 30th Annual Texas State Championships, of which Tabbs Bay will host the E-Pool players on March 30.
On top of the 3 distinct courses, future phases of the property will also include a state of the art Disc Golf Practice Facility, 6 throwing stations with 11 Innova Pro 28 Baskets set at different distances and angles, creating distinct, practice fairways. Each station will include a tee pad, bench, shade structure and a custom made disc rack for ease of use.
With its blend of challenging courses, top-tier amenities, and commitment to community engagement, the Tabbs Bay Disc Golf Course is poised to become a premier destination for both recreational players and competitive athletes alike.

ExxonMobil Reports Strong Q4 Profits
ExxonMobil, with more than a century operating in Baytown, reported strong fourth-quarter earnings, highlighting continued growth in oil and gas production. The company earned $7.61 billion, or $1.72 per share, surpassing Wall Street expectations.
Increased production in the Permian Basin and Guyana contributed to a $1.6 billion earnings boost, with ExxonMobil’s total production reaching 4.6 million oil-equivalent barrels per day. The company expects over 60% of its future production to come from these key assets, along with its liquefied natural gas operations by 2030.
Despite strong earnings, revenue fell short of projections, totaling $83.43 billion, below the estimated $87.12 billion. ExxonMobil attributed its financial stability to cost-saving measures and operational efficiencies, positioning the company for long-term growth.
With deep roots in Baytown, ExxonMobil remains a major economic force in the region, supporting jobs, infrastructure, and industrial development. As the company continues to expand and invest in energy production, its Baytown operations remain a critical component of its success.

Frday’s Quiz - What incredible defense mechanism do sea cucumbers use to escape predators?
Answer: B) They detach their internal organs and eject them as a distraction.
Sea cucumbers have a bizarre yet effective defense mechanism called evisceration, where they expel their internal organs to confuse predators. The lost organs regenerate within weeks, allowing the sea cucumber to survive even after sacrificing part of its body. Some species even release sticky, toxic filaments to further deter attackers!
