Barbers Hill Names Cody Simper
as New Head Football Coach
Barbers Hill High School has found its next head football coach, hiring Cody Simper from Cypress Woods High School. Simper takes over a highly coveted position, leading a program known for its strong community support, top-tier facilities, and high expectations for success.
Simper brings a proven track record to Barbers Hill. In four seasons at Cypress Woods, he led the Wildcats to a 26-17 record, including an 8-3 finish in 2024. Before that, he made a name for himself at Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial (2015-2020), where he built the program from the ground up and compiled a 50-14 record, reaching the Class 5A-Division I state semifinals in 2020. He also spent five years as head coach at Corpus Christi Ray (2010-2014), earning a 30-24 record.
A Gonzales native, Simper began his coaching career as a running backs coach at Corpus Christi Ray before advancing through the ranks in Cy-Fair ISD. Known for his attention to detail, relationship-building skills, and dynamic coaching style, he encourages his athletes to participate in multiple sports and fosters a culture of energy and enthusiasm.
Expectations remain high for Barbers Hill, and Simper steps into a role where state championships are the standard. With his leadership and experience, the Eagles are poised for continued success.

ExxonMobil Investing $18.4 Million
in New Baytown Facility
ExxonMobil is making a significant investment in Baytown, committing $18.4 million to develop a new 34,465-square-foot facility at 4500 Bayway Drive. The new space is expected to be completed and occupied by July 1, 2026, further strengthening ExxonMobil’s long-standing presence in the area.
This expansion highlights Baytown’s ongoing role as a key hub for ExxonMobil’s operations. The city is home to one of the company’s largest integrated complexes, supporting jobs, infrastructure, and industrial growth. The new facility is expected to enhance ExxonMobil’s capabilities in the region, though specific details about its purpose have not yet been disclosed.
As ExxonMobil continues investing in Baytown, this project underscores the city’s importance in the energy sector and its position as a center for industrial development.

Wednesday’s Quiz - What unusual behavior do wombats exhibit when marking their territory?
Answer: A) They produce cube-shaped poop.
Wombats are known for their cube-shaped feces, which they use to mark their territory. The unique shape prevents the droppings from rolling away, ensuring their scent markers stay in place. This peculiar trait is due to the uneven elasticity of their intestines.
