Baytown Native Deandre Lamont
Re-Signs with Ottawa Redblacks

Baytown’s own Deandre Lamont is staying with the Ottawa Redblacks after signing a one-year contract extension through the 2025 CFL season. Lamont, a standout defensive back, has quickly made his mark in the Canadian Football League, showcasing his talent and versatility on the field.

Lamont, 26, played in all 18 regular season games in 2024, starting at multiple positions in the secondary. He posted a career-high 91 total tackles, including 86 defensive stops, and recorded an interception during Week 7 against Edmonton. Since joining the Redblacks in 2023, Lamont has proven himself as a reliable player, accumulating 117 total tackles and three interceptions over two seasons.

Before his CFL career, Lamont excelled in college football. He earned First Team All-Conference honors at the University of Central Arkansas and later transferred to Illinois State, where he garnered All-MVFC honorable mention recognition.

Lamont’s success on the professional stage is a point of pride for Baytown, demonstrating the community’s ability to produce elite athletes competing at the highest levels. As he continues his journey with the Redblacks, Lamont remains a shining example of determination and skill from his hometown.
