New Marriott Hotel, Restaurants &
Retail Hub Coming to La Porte

A bustling La Porte intersection at Fairmont Parkway and State Highway 146, often called the city’s “gateway,” is poised for significant new development. Plans include a dual-branded Marriott hotel, a retail center, and new restaurant options, bolstering the area’s appeal as a commercial and hospitality hub.

Construction is underway on a four-story, 135-room hotel combining Marriott's TownePlace Suites and Fairfield Inn brands. The project is spearheaded by Mahalaxmi Hotels Inc., which already owns two neighboring hotels—Home2 Suites by Hilton and Candlewood Suites. Adjacent to the new hotel, an 8,700-square-foot retail center is being developed, offering a convenient dining destination for the hundreds of guests staying at nearby hotels.

The intersection will also see its first Chipotle Mexican Grill, as Houston-based developer Edifis Group transforms a former Wells Fargo property into a restaurant site. The 3-acre project will host three dining establishments, enhancing options for residents and the city’s substantial daytime workforce.

La Porte’s hotel scene is growing robustly, driven by consistent weekday demand fueled by local industries. In addition to the planned Marriott property, the city boasts hotels like Hampton Inn & Suites, and a proposed Holiday Inn Express is expected to further meet the high demand.

The area’s development coincides with infrastructure improvements, including a lane expansion of Highway 146 through La Porte, which will heighten the intersection's prominence and accessibility.

Meanwhile, revitalization efforts extend beyond this intersection. A $30 million upgrade to Sylvan Beach Park aims to restore its status as a regional destination, while the city’s Main Street has seen a resurgence, with over ten new businesses opening within the last 18 months.

This momentum underscores La Porte’s evolution as a vibrant, connected community offering diverse opportunities for residents, visitors, and businesses alike.
