Think Big, Shop Small:
Why Local Businesses Need You

Each year, the Saturday after Thanksgiving is more than just a shopping day—it’s a celebration of community resilience and entrepreneurship. Small Business Saturday reminds us that behind every charming storefront and neighborhood café is a hardworking dreamer contributing to the Greater Baytown area economy and culture.

When you shop local, your dollars stay closer to home. Studies show that small businesses reinvest in their communities at a much higher rate than large chains. Your support doesn’t just pay a salary—it funds local schools, improves public services, and creates jobs for your neighbors in the Greater Baytown area.

More importantly, small businesses provide something no online retailer or national chain can offer: personality and personal connection. They know your name, your preferences, and often go the extra mile to make every interaction memorable. When you buy local, you’re not just making a transaction—you’re strengthening relationships and fostering a sense of belonging.

Saturday, skip the big-box chaos and make a deliberate choice to support the heart of the Greater Baytown area. Whether it’s grabbing coffee at the corner shop, buying gifts from an artisan, or hiring a local handyman, your purchase has a purpose.

Wednesday’s Answer:
D) Strong winds blow the water upward
