Heart & Whisk Bakery
Spotlight on Heart and Whisk Bakery:
Small-Batch Sweetness in Baytown
For Hannah Puente, baking began as a high school hobby at Sterling High School in Baytown, creating cookies for family and friends. What started as a pastime quickly grew into a passion, as people began asking, “Who made these?” Hannah continued her baking journey through nursing school and into her nursing career, baking on the side and steadily building a devoted clientele. When COVID-19 brought many challenges, it also gave her the opportunity to dream bigger. In 2023, she turned that dream into reality, opening Heart and Whisk Bakery on Main Street in the town where she was born and raised.
Heart and Whisk Bakery specializes in small-batch baking, ensuring every treat is made fresh daily. Each week, the bakery menu changes to offer customers variety while keeping fan favorites—like decorated cookies, oatmeal cream pies, and muffins—available year-round. Hannah’s thoughtful approach to baking and her commitment to quality have made the bakery a beloved addition to the community.
Beyond her bakery’s creations, Hannah has deep ties to Baytown. She has built her business through personal connections, including custom cookie orders, relationships formed at Houston Methodist Baytown, and her involvement in the Mont Belvieu Farmers Market, where her baked goods were a consistent sellout. Now, her cozy storefront on Main Street is a sweet destination for locals and visitors alike.
Community engagement is at the heart of Heart and Whisk Bakery. This year, the bakery sponsored a girls’ Eagles Youth Basketball team and the SFA Fall Fest. Looking ahead, Hannah is bringing more joy to Baytown with Thanksgiving pre-orders, December cookie-decorating classes, and a Deaf Social event for the hearing-impaired community on January 4, 2025.
Whether you’re craving a sweet treat or looking for a fun, festive activity, Heart and Whisk Bakery is ready to welcome you with open arms and freshly baked delights. Visit them at 4618 N Main St., Baytown, TX, or explore their offerings at www.heartandwhiskbakery.com. You can also reach Hannah directly at
(713) 314-7070 or [email protected] to place your custom orders or reserve a spot at one of their upcoming events!

Goose Creek CISD Student Injured in
Hit-and-Run - Driver Arrested
A 17-year-old Goose Creek CISD student was injured Tuesday morning in Highlands while crossing the street to board a school bus. Authorities say the driver, 61-year-old John Wesley Williams, ignored the bus’s flashing red lights and stop signs, driving around it and striking the teen with his truck’s side mirror. The incident occurred in the 2800 block of North Battlebell Road.
The impact caused the student to fall, resulting in leg and knee injuries. A witness followed the truck to a parking lot on Wade Road, where they contacted 911. Deputies detained Williams, who claimed foggy windows prevented him from seeing the student but could not explain why he fled the scene.
The driver has been charged with failing to stop and render aid in an accident resulting in injury. He is currently held on a $20,000 bond awaiting arraignment.
The student’s injuries are not considered as life-threatening, though further details on his condition have not been released.
This incident underscores the importance of observing school bus safety laws to protect children on their way to and from school.
