Chit-Chat Family Fiesta for
Student Wellness and Safety

The Social-Emotional Learning & Student Wellness Department invites families to a special Family Fiesta event on Wed., November 13th from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. at Goose Creek Memorial High School. This evening, known as "Chit-Chat," offers families a chance to connect through games, enjoy free food and giveaways, and explore vendor booths.

The event will also address an important topic: “Web of Lies: Human Trafficking & Social Media Risks for Children.” Parents and students (grades 5-12) will have the opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions about online safety and the challenges children may face on social media.

Families are encouraged to attend this informative, supportive gathering focused on wellness and safety in today’s digital world.

Paint with a Purpose:
Helping Houston Area Children Find Forever Homes

In partnership with Painting with a Twist, BEAR (Be A Resource for CPS Kids) is offering a unique opportunity for community members to support children in need through a creative event. For the past 25 years, BEAR has served as an advocate for Houston’s most vulnerable children, providing essential items, backpacks filled with school supplies, gifts, and more to improve the lives of children in the foster care system.

BEAR’s support doesn’t end there—the organization also helps raise awareness of adoption needs by displaying canvas photos of adoptable children across the city. All of these programs are made possible through community generosity, with events like Painting with a Twist helping fund this vital work.

Participants not only get to enjoy a day of painting but also contribute to BEAR’s ongoing mission. With every ticket, they’re helping provide children with the support and resources they deserve, reinforcing BEAR’s mission to make a positive impact in the Houston area.!
