Casey Cook Achieves Elite Status as
FEMA Master Public Information Officer
This year, Casey Cook, with the Baytown Fire Dept., reached a significant milestone, becoming one of only 23 Public Information Officers to complete FEMA’s Master Public Information Officer (MPIO) program, joining an exclusive group of just 179 MPIOs worldwide. Her journey through the 10-month program included three intensive sessions at FEMA’s Emergency Management Institute and culminated in a thesis that earned a place in the National Emergency Training Center library—an honor highlighting her expertise and dedication.
Casey attributes her success to mentors Larry Hill, Scott Thomsen, and Dr. Joe Trahan, APR, whose guidance was invaluable, as well as Nicole Shutts for her role in supporting the cohort. Beyond professional growth, Casey forged lasting friendships with her fellow MPIOs, who shared her journey and provided camaraderie and memorable moments.
Congratulations to Casey on this incredible achievement. Her commitment, talent, and the connections made along the way make this a truly remarkable milestone in her career!
