Exciting Market at Town Square Changes
Coming in 2025!

The City of Baytown’s Parks and Recreation Department is gearing up to bring residents an even better Market at Town Square experience! Starting in 2025, the market will shift from a monthly schedule to a seasonal format, with three markets in the spring and three in the fall. This change aims to create a more exclusive atmosphere while avoiding Baytown’s peak hot and cold weather.

Recreation Superintendent Kyle Frye shared, “This will make the market more exclusive and create a more comfortable experience for both attendees and vendors.” The seasonal markets will take place in March, April, May, September, October, and November.

But first, mark your calendar for the final market of 2024 on November 16! Enjoy handmade crafts, local food trucks, and fun games for all ages. Plus, test your skills in the pumpkin pie baking contest for both adult and kid competitions

Don’t miss this last Market for 2024!

Save on Fees: Baytown’s New 4% Card Charge and
How to Bypass It

Starting in Fiscal Year 2025, Baytown residents will see a 4% fee for credit and debit card transactions with the city. While fees can be frustrating, this move is actually meant to save taxpayer dollars by reducing the high costs previously covered by the city for credit card processing.

In 2023 alone, Baytown paid over $424,000 in card processing fees, a figure that grew to more than $600,000 in 2024. By adding a 4% transaction fee, the city will now recover about 94% of these costs, helping to protect funding for essential services and operations.

For those looking to avoid the fee, you can still pay with cash, check, or set up a bank account auto-draft, which remains fee-free. City officials hope that residents will see this change as a way to balance convenience with cost-saving measures.
