TALKE USA’s Mont Belvieu Facility
Leads the Way with
First-Ever OCS Logistics Verification

TALKE USA, Inc. has announced a major environmental milestone: its Mont Belvieu facility is the first logistics service provider (LSP) worldwide to achieve the newly launched Operation Clean Sweep® (OCS) Logistics Verification. This recognition underscores TALKE USA’s commitment to sustainable practices under its “Crafting Responsible Logistics” initiative.

The OCS Logistics Verification program, developed by the Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS) and the American Chemistry Council (ACC), sets a new industry benchmark for preventing plastic resin loss across trucking companies, warehouses, transloaders, and other logistics operations. Building upon the earlier OCS Blue Verification, the program demands rigorous facility-level compliance with over 25 specific management practices designed to ensure the safe containment, transfer, and handling of plastic materials.

TALKE USA successfully demonstrated full implementation of these measures, setting a global precedent for responsible logistics operations. The verification highlights the company's integrated focus on safety, environmental accountability, and sustainability throughout its supply chain processes.

This achievement also complements TALKE USA’s broader sustainability goals, which include the introduction of hydrogen-powered trucks and a target of achieving carbon neutrality by 2040. These initiatives reflect a strategic vision to deliver high-performance logistics solutions with minimal environmental impact.

As the first facility worldwide to meet the OCS Logistics Verification standard, TALKE USA’s Mont Belvieu site sets a new benchmark for the logistics sector, reinforcing the company's leadership in environmental stewardship and operational excellence.

Sewage Overflows Into Whispering Pines Neighborhood After Heavy Rain,
Sparking Renewed Concern

Heavy rainfall on Wednesday, April 23rd overwhelmed the sewer system in Baytown’s Whispering Pines subdivision, causing raw sewage to bubble up through manholes and spill into streets, yards, and coastal waterways. Residents reported finding toilet paper, tampons, and human waste scattered across affected areas, reigniting long-standing concerns about the neighborhood’s aging wastewater infrastructure.

City officials confirmed that a pump station failure ahead of the rain event contributed significantly to the overflow. Emergency pumps were brought in to manage the situation, and according to a city spokesperson, had the failure not occurred, the widespread overflow might have been avoided.

The issue of sewage spills has been a persistent problem in Baytown for decades, drawing scrutiny from both federal and state regulators. In 2022, the City of Baytown faced legal action citing hundreds of violations related to sewage system management. By 2024, negotiations with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) were still underway to address ongoing compliance issues.

Residents of Whispering Pines say these problems have become more severe in recent years, raising concerns about public health risks from exposure to untreated sewage.

Although the city has completed its participation in the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality’s (TCEQ) Sanitary Sewer Overflow Initiative—a 10-year plan aimed at rehabilitating the sewer system—additional work remains. City officials say they are continuing negotiations with both the TCEQ and EPA to agree on a schedule for further system improvements.

Professional Action. Safe Resolution.
Powered by Technology.

On Thursday, April 24, 2025, at approximately 3:45 p.m., Baytown Police responded to a report of an aggravated assault and robbery. The victim reported being physically assaulted and threatened at gunpoint by a known suspect at a residence he shares with his girlfriend and child.

Officers quickly established a perimeter and utilized an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), commonly known as a drone, to monitor the scene. After repeated attempts to call the suspect out were unsuccessful, officers deployed an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle inside the home, where the suspect was located. Officers then made entry with K-9 support and safely took the suspect into custody without further incident.

Thanks to the strategic use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), officers were able to gather real-time intelligence while maintaining a safe distance. UAVs enhance our department’s ability to prioritize public safety, providing thermal imaging and live aerial feedback that aid in safely resolving critical incidents.

This safe outcome was possible due to the support of the Crime Control and Prevention District (CCPD), whose funding ensures our officers have access to the latest tools and technology to keep our community safe.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office has accepted charges of Aggravated Robbery and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon against the suspect.
