Officer Unharmed After Patrol Vehicle Struck in Baytown Burglary Arrest
Earlier this week, we noticed a post circulating on social media regarding a recent incident at a business near the Flying J truck stop. We’d like to take a moment to share what happened and provide clarity on the situation.
On Sunday, March 30, at approximately 8:00 a.m., officers were dispatched to a warehouse in the area after a burglary alarm was triggered. Upon arrival, officers observed individuals loading 18-wheeler tires into a Penske rental truck. When officers attempted to intervene, the suspects tried to flee. One of the individuals reversed the truck and struck a patrol vehicle. Thankfully, the officer involved was evaluated and cleared to return to full duty with no serious injuries.
Additional officers arrived quickly, contained the vehicle, and gave multiple commands for the suspects to surrender. After a brief standoff, the individuals exited the truck and were taken into custody without further incident.
The truck had been reported stolen, and additional stolen items, drug paraphernalia, and equipment used to load the stolen property were recovered at the scene. The two males arrested are both from Houston and have been charged with Aggravated Assault on a Public Servant and Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity.
Chief of Police John Stringer stated: “The officers of the Baytown Police Department are dedicated to the safety of our community and reducing crime in our city. We are proud of the work our officers are doing to locate and apprehend criminals operating in our city. Our community should know that we are committed to their protection and safety. Offenders should know that we will not tolerate our residents and visitors being victimized and there will always be a well-trained, professional Baytown Police Officer to respond to these incidents.”
We are grateful for the strong teamwork shown by our officers on Days A shift. Their quick actions helped prevent further harm and ensured a positive outcome.
We also want to reassure our community that we are listening to your concerns. We are actively addressing crime in areas where we've heard from you, and this is just one example of our ongoing commitment to public safety.

On Wednesday, April 2nd, Baytown Police—alongside Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Baytown SWAT, and our Special Investigations Division—executed a search warrant at a game room located in the 200 block of East Texas.
This location has been the subject of multiple community complaints, and we want our community to know: we hear you. Your concerns matter. We’re actively working to address crime and are committed to keeping Baytown safe.
