Baytown Police Investigate
Dog Attack Involving Infant

Just as we were wrapping up this edition of the newsletter, we learned of a developing and distressing incident in Baytown involving a 6-month-old baby.

According to the Baytown Police Department, officers responded to a call at approximately 3:50 p.m. Tuesday in the 1300 block of E. James Avenue, where a dog reportedly attacked the infant. The baby was transported to a hospital by ambulance. Life Flight was initially called to the scene but later disregarded, officials said.

At this time, the child’s condition remains unknown, and details surrounding the circumstances of the attack are still unclear. As part of the ongoing investigation, Baytown Animal Services has removed two dogs from the scene.

We will continue to monitor this developing story and provide updates as more information becomes available.

Sergeant Cervantes

For nearly 28 years, Sgt. Cervantes has dedicated her career to serving the City of Baytown—27 of those as a police officer. Her journey into law enforcement began with a childhood encounter with a Houston Police Officer, a moment that left a lasting impression and ignited her passion for the job. That passion has carried her through years in Patrol, Investigations, and now as a Patrol Sergeant (Days A). As the only female sergeant in our department, she continues to pave the way for future generations of women in law enforcement. Her advice? “Go for it. It’s a tough job, but you’ll love it.”

Sergeant Cervantes, thank you for your dedication to keeping Baytown safe!
