Boy, 8, Beaten to Death;
Teen Suspect in Custody
An 18-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of an 8-year-old boy, authorities said. The suspect, Nolan Stallings, was taken into custody on March 3 and charged with injury to a child, a felony.
According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, deputies first responded to a Baytown hospital on February 10, where the child had been brought in with multiple injuries. The boy was in critical condition and remained hospitalized for several days before succumbing to his injuries.
Investigators believe the abuse occurred at a home on Greendell Street, near North Main Street in the Highlands area. Sheriff Gonzalez stated that the injuries were consistent with physical abuse. Initially, Stallings reportedly told medical staff that the child had been injured in a fall.
Stallings, who was dating the boy’s sister, is currently being held at the Harris County Jail as the investigation continues.
Baytown Sees Industrial Growth as
Welcome Group Completes Two Facilities
Welcome Group, a locally based developer, has successfully completed the construction of two new industrial buildings in Baytown, Texas, adding 40,080 square feet of industrial space to the growing region. The twin buildings are located within the TGS Cedar Port Industrial Park, one of the largest master-planned industrial developments in the country.
The new facilities sit on a 4.3-acre site and are designed to accommodate a variety of industrial tenants. Each building includes 2,200 square feet of office space, making them well-suited for businesses that require both warehouse and administrative functions. Welcome Group is actively handling leasing for the properties, aiming to attract tenants in logistics, manufacturing, and distribution sectors.
The development team behind the project includes Tomorrow Planning as the architect, KDW as the general contractor, and Simmons Bank as the construction lender. TGS Cedar Port Industrial Park, where the buildings are located, continues to expand, offering key advantages such as proximity to the Port of Houston, major highways, and rail access.
With demand for industrial space in the Houston area on the rise, this project is expected to support the region’s continued economic growth. Baytown, situated just east of Houston, has become a prime location for logistics and manufacturing companies looking for well-connected, high-quality facilities.

Tuesday’s Quiz -What unusual adaptation allows barn owls to hunt in complete darkness?
Answer: D) Their facial discs funnel sound directly to their ears.
Barn owls have specialized facial discs that act like satellite dishes, channeling the faintest sounds directly to their asymmetrically placed ears. This allows them to pinpoint the exact location of prey in total darkness, even under snow or leaves!
