Thrift It Forward: Shop Sustainably and
Support Our Community
Did you know that 92 million tons of clothing waste is generated every year? Even more shocking—only 1% of clothing is ever recycled. Fast fashion and textile waste have become major environmental concerns, but there’s something you can do to make a difference!
On April 4th, Goose Creek Memorial High School is hosting "Thrift It Forward", a community-driven thrift event designed to promote sustainable shopping while giving back to a great cause.
Shop, Save, and Support a Cause
At "Thrift It Forward," you can browse an incredible selection of secondhand clothing, all priced at $5 or less! Not only will you find amazing deals, but you’ll also be reducing waste and supporting local students. All proceeds from the event will go toward funding college scholarships for GCCISD seniors.
But that’s not all—any unsold items will be donated to the Bay Area Homeless Shelter, ensuring that nothing goes to waste and more people in need receive essential clothing.
More Than Just Shopping
This isn’t just a thrift sale—it’s a community event! Enjoy music, great finds, and the chance to make a real impact in your local area. Whether you’re looking to refresh your wardrobe, reduce fashion waste, or support students in need, this event is the perfect opportunity to do all three. Watch the video

Friday’s Quiz -What bizarre survival trait allows some species of frogs to endure freezing winter temperatures?
Answer: A) They replace water in their cells with glucose to prevent ice damage.
Certain frogs, like the wood frog, survive freezing winters by flooding their cells with glucose, which acts as a natural antifreeze. Their bodies can freeze solid—stopping their heart and breathing—only to thaw out and hop away in spring, completely unharmed!
