Jail Riot in Liberty County:
45 Inmates Clash with Officers
A riot involving 45 inmates broke out at the Liberty County Jail on Thursday morning, with inmates taking control of two dorm sections for several hours before officers restored order.
The disturbance began during a routine shakedown when jail staff searched for contraband and homemade weapons. After inmates were allowed back into their dorms, they began breaking windows and throwing objects at officers, officials said.
With only 15 law enforcement officers present at the time, deputies retreated and called for reinforcements. Once additional officers arrived, they used non-lethal gas to regain control of the situation. The riot lasted about two hours before order was restored.
One inmate was hospitalized with non-serious injuries, while no deputies were hurt. Authorities are considering additional charges for those who instigated the riot, and jail procedures will be reevaluated to prevent similar incidents in the future.

San Jacinto Monument Undergoes
Historic $142M Renovation
The San Jacinto Monument and Battlefield is set for a major $142 million renovation, aimed at enhancing the historic site while preserving its legacy for future generations. The project, funded by the Texas Legislature, is currently in the design phase, with no set completion date yet.
The renovation will include a reimagined visitor center, expanded exhibit spaces, classrooms, and immersive technology to bring Texas history to life. Lake Flato Architects, known for designing public spaces like the AT&T Center, will lead the modernization efforts. Lord Aeck Sargent, a firm specializing in historic preservation, will ensure the site’s architectural integrity remains intact.
Additionally, an ongoing historical landscaping restoration is removing non-native trees to return the battlefield to its 1836 appearance. New trails will be designed to guide visitors through key moments of the battle.
The San Jacinto Monument, standing at 567 feet, is the tallest war memorial in the world and commemorates the decisive battle of the Texas Revolution on April 21, 1836. The battle, won in just 18 minutes under General Sam Houston, led to the creation of the Republic of Texas.

Answer: B) They can sense vibrations through their feet and interpret them as sound.
Elephants can "hear" subsonic rumbles by detecting seismic vibrations through the sensitive pads on their feet. This allows them to sense distant storms, communicate over miles, and even detect approaching herds—all without using their ears!
