Apple to Open Massive Houston Facility,
Creating Thousands of Jobs
Apple has announced plans to open a 250,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Houston as part of a broader $500 billion investment in the U.S. over the next four years. The new facility, set to open in 2026, will create thousands of jobs and play a key role in Appleâs expansion into advanced technology and artificial intelligence.
The Houston plant will focus on producing servers that power Apple Intelligence, a core component of Appleâs AI-driven cloud computing system. These servers, previously manufactured outside the U.S., will now be assembled domestically, enhancing security and performance through Appleâs proprietary silicon technology.
Appleâs latest investment represents its largest-ever financial commitment, emphasizing research and development, artificial intelligence, and manufacturing across the country. Over the next four years, Apple plans to hire around 20,000 new employees, with many roles dedicated to AI, software development, and silicon engineering.
The Houston facility marks one of the city's most significant technology manufacturing projects in decades, further solidifying Texas as a hub for innovation and high-tech manufacturing.

Universalâs New Texas Park to Feature
SpongeBob, Shrek, and More
[Please note: This is a follow up article to the previous one we wrote in December. To get more details, refer to that article here.
Universal is bringing a brand-new theme park to Frisco, Texas, designed specifically for families with young children. Set to open in 2026, the Universal Kids Resort will feature six themed lands inspired by beloved animated characters, along with a 300-room onsite hotel.
Among the newly announced lands is a Shrek-themed area, where visitors can explore the famous swamp in an interactive playground. Fans of SpongeBob SquarePants will get a chance to step into Bikini Bottom, featuring familiar sights like the Krusty Krab and SpongeBobâs pineapple house.
For Minions lovers, a water-play zone promises plenty of splashes and chaos as the Yellow Minions attempt to manage their mischievous Purple counterparts. A Jurassic World section will allow young explorers to get up close with dinosaurs in a kid-friendly adventure.
The park will also feature lands inspired by DreamWorks' Trolls, offering a colorful, music-filled festival, and Puss in Boots, where guests can enjoy carnival-style games, rides, and a relaxing sensory garden. A central park hub will provide shaded play areas and character meet-and-greets, including an interactive experience based on Gabbyâs Dollhouse.
With its focus on young children and family-friendly attractions, Universal Kids Resort promises a magical experience for visitors of all ages.
Baytown Man Gets 12-Year Prison Term
for Gun Trafficking
A Baytown, Texas, man has been sentenced to more than 12 years in federal prison for his role in trafficking firearms. Eduardo Hernandez, 54, pleaded guilty in October 2024 and will serve 151 months behind bars, followed by three years of supervised release.
According to court records, Hernandez purchased firearms from licensed dealers in the Houston area and sent images of the weapons to an individual in Mexico. Investigators discovered that he had acquired around 50 firearms and transported large amounts of ammunition to a residence near the U.S.-Mexico border.
The case is part of an ongoing investigation into illegal firearms transfers. Authorities conducted a search in November 2023, seizing multiple weapons from an individual who admitted they were intended for transport into Mexico. Two of the confiscated rifles were traced back to Hernandez.
During sentencing, Hernandez expressed remorse for his actions. He has been allowed to remain on bond and will voluntarily surrender to a federal prison facility at a later date.
